Part of my job involves trying to understand certain brain cells. We want to know how being in a particular area of the brain changes the characteristics of the cells. In order to get the answer, I stain the cells with different fluorescent antibodies to find out what markers are expressed in them. The results are often really stinking cool.
These are mouse astrocytes stained with vimentin (green) to show their cytoskeletal structures (nucleus is blue):

I know that not everyone will think this is cool, but it fascinates me! Oh well, we all know what a geek I am!
