Announcement? Invitation? Waste of money!

It's a pretty exciting time in the Crousehold. I'm gearing up for my last graduation ever! I got an advertisement in the mail last week for graduation announcements from a company that is not used by my school. They sent a sample announcement, and it was really nice. The prices they were quoting were cheaper than the company that my college has a contract with, so I went to their website. I started to order my announcements only to find out that the standard $9 shipping is for 2-3 week delivery. Now normally that wouldn't be a problem, except that graduation is about 4 weeks away. If I wanted them in 10 days the shipping jumps to $24!

So being me, I thought that I would see what the deal is with the school's company the next day during the Grad Fair. Would you believe that it was the same thing?? I asked the lady representing the company how that even made sense. Her response was "They are only announcements. You should send your invitations out now." Did I miss something? The announcements have a date, time and location on them, so as far as I'm concerned, they serve as invitations.

Now, I'm one smart cookie (if I do say so myself), especially when it comes to spending my hard earned money. I remembered that I made the invitations for my wedding and I ordered the cardstock from InvitationPaper.com which absolutely rocks. I found these super cool annoucements which I ordered.

I was able to customize the colors, so it will look just like the one in the picture except the sheer ribbon will be gold since UMSL's colors are red and gold. The standard shipping is 1-3 days and the total cost with shipping was less than the cost of the cheaper announcements without shipping! Even more awesome is that they already shipped! Sometimes I amaze myself!
