TGIF

I am sooooooo glad that it is finally the weekend! I have had a heck of a week!
In the summer, our lab has group meeting twice a week. The first meeting is a research presentation and the second is a discussion of a recent journal article. Unfortunately it was my week to present, so I had to put together and deliver talks on Tuesday and Thursday. It isn't really hard to do, but it does take a lot of time. Luckily those went well.
I've had the group meeting schedule since the beginning of the summer, but wouldn't you know I would just totally ignore it! I managed to schedule the summer church newsletter to come out this week. I spent hours writing and working on the layout between my work obligations. I annoyed my husband because I believe that if you are going to put the effort out to do something, you might as well do it right. I have designed a really visually pleasing newsletter layout with shading in some places for contrast. Unfortunately, when the copies are made the shading becomes disruptive to the older members of the church who can't read the words then. It is completely legible in the copy I send to the church secretary, but the church's copier sucks. It absolutely kills me to have to mess up my beautiful design because the problem isn't really on my end. Bob thinks I'm just too picky, but I take pride in my work!
On top of all of this, I had to head down to Evansville on Wednesday. Grandpa Joiner isn't doing well at all. He has no control over his bodily functions, he hit a nurse the other day and he doesn't even recognize my Grandma anymore. In the two weeks that he has been in the nursing home, he has gotten really bad. It's sad because he isn't really a person anymore. He is living in the past and not able to participate in the current. His regression has been very quick, but we are at the point where he is completely incapacitated. Hopefully he doesn't languish like this. It's painful to watch, but he has no concept of what is happening to him.
Now that the weekend is here, I'm hoping to relax a little bit. I'm getting tired of running at full speed all the time. Unfortunately, I think that's going to be my life for a while now.
